When you’re a celebrity, the public wants to know everything about you, from what you eat for breakfast to your workout regime. The juicier the gossip, the better. Maybe that’s one reason the world seems obsessed with Quentin Tarantino’s supposed foot fetish.

Quentin Tarantino’s unique approach to filmmaking has made him famous, wealthy, and the topic of many heated debates. Well, we’re here to set the record straight once and for all and answer the question, “Does Quentin Tarantino have a foot fetish?” and where did this rumor originate from?

Get ready for all the juicy details!

A Little Bit About Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino is an American film director, actor, and screenwriter. His films are unique and controversial. They have been described by many as “stylized violence.” Many of his movies include tons of profanity, nudity, extended dialogue, and pop culture references. According to some, his films also focus on feet, but more on that in a minute.

Some of Quentin Tarantino’s most famous films include

  • Pulp Fiction
  • Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
  • Django Unchained
  • The Hateful Eight
  • Inglourious Basterds
  • Reservoir Dogs
  • Kill Bill
  • Kill Bill Vol. 2
  • Jackie Brown
  • Death Proof

Does Quentin Tarantino Have a Foot Fetish?

According to the man himself, the answer is no. While the rumor has permeated Hollywood and online gossip forums for years, Tarantino has conducted several interviews where he’s been asked and denied that he has a foot fetish.

He told GQ, “There’s a lot of feet in a lot of good directors’ movies. I don’t take it seriously. It’s just good direction.”

He has, however, admitted that he intentionally includes women’s feet in certain parts of his films. For example, there are two iconic scenes in Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood where it’s impossible to ignore the close-up shots of female feet.

In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, two of the actresses also have an in-depth conversation about foot massage. This is also the film where Margaret Qualley puts her dirty feet up on the dashboard – reluctantly. Reports and interviews highlighted Qualley’s resistance to the whole idea and scene. The actress told IndieWire, “I genuinely was like, ‘This is a bad idea. I don’t have good feet.’”.

Qualley blamed her seemingly unattractive feet on being “in pointed shoes for far too long.” However, the scene and the movie were a hit. So much so that Brad Pitt went on to win a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for his role in the film. During his acceptance speech, Pitt even thanked “Margaret Qualley’s feet” and publicly roasted Tarantino for the film’s many foot shots.

The inclusion of dirty and less-than-perfect feet in this film showed the world that Tarantino wasn’t focused on just showing pretty feet on screen but all types of feet. In her sit down with Indie Wire, Qualley also noted that all of the attention she got for her foot scene gave her a newfound confidence and appreciation for her tootsies.

Another notable foot-centered scene from Tarantino’s movies is captured at the beginning of Kill Bill Volume 1.  The camera zooms in on Uma Thurman’s foot as her character (The Bride) tries to take control of her own body. The Bride’s foot makes an encore performance in Kill Bill Volume 2  with another close-up shot.

Quentin Tarantino Isn’t the First Foot-Forward Director

Tarantino also defends himself by pointing out that he’s not the first filmmaker in history to focus on feet. For example, Luis Buñuel, Alford Hitchcock, and Sophia Coppola were all accused of being foot fetishists at one time or another. To this day, Tarantino doesn’t confirm nor deny his foot fetish but some believe his work speaks for itself.

Other famous films that seem to focus on feet include

  • Brokeback Mountain (Linda Cardellini removes her boots and demands a foot massage from Heath Ledger)
  • Higher Ground (Vera Farmiga’s feet are licked and sucked by a stranger)
  • From Dusk Till Dawn (Salma Hayak has a man suck tequila off her feet)
  • Death Proof (Kurt Russel licks Rosario Dawnson’s feet as they hang out of a car window)
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction (Ben Kingsley sucks on Heidi Mark’s toes)
  • Cherry Falls (Brittany Murphy gets an erotic foot massage)
  • Jackie Brown (A close-up of Jackie’s toe-ring covered feet on the coffee table)

Even though these films have been recognized for including feet in their scenes and dialogue, a true foot fetishist will notice feet no matter what the focus of the film is meant to be. Whether it’s sexy boots worn by the leading lady, bare feet in the shower, or feet flying in the air during a steamy sex scene – if feet are your focus, you’ll be naturally drawn to them.
